Richard Edmund FitzGerald, loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather died at 81, after a three year battle with Parkinson’s disease. He is survived by his wife, Frances FitzGerald, and children, Michael FitzGerald, Mary Williams, Mark FitzGerald, Colleen FitzGerald-Hjelle, and Christopher FitzGerald. His grandchildren include David FitzGerald, Megan Hjelle, Hayley FitzGerald, Brandon FitzGerald, Brian Hjelle, Aubrey FitzGerald, Brittany FitzGerald, Bradley FitzGerald, Jason FitzGerald and Breanna FitzGerald. His lifetime commitment to learning and teaching led him to obtain three Masters Degrees and become an English Professor, where he shaped the minds of many grateful college students. His generosity, kindness and compassion will be severely missed. In lieu of flowers, spiritual gifts or donations to the Gonzaga College High School “Class of 1950 Scholarship Fund” would be appreciated in his name.
