I was Gut Punched when I heard of Tod's passing. I had not seen or spoken to him in about twenty -five years, but I knew the next time I would see him, it would be as if I had seen him just the day before. We grew up in a neighborhood of twelve boys within a six year age range. The Shimamoto family lived across the street and I considered the Shimamoto boys as my brothers. Whether it was playing football at Cleveland, basketball at their house, softball in the street, skateboarding at the end of Victory or Roller Derby on Mrs. Shimamoto's Dichondra, Tod always displayed the most graceful athleticism. I liked hanging out with him because he was always low key and humble and he had a great sense of humor. In the later years, I was thrilled to take a Chemistry class at CSUN with him and excited when he was on our Men's Over Thirty Hardball team. I remember him giving me some good pointers. I'm sorry we never made that camping trip with our brothers, but I knew he was busy with "Baseball." And that was just Tod being Tod. He loved coaching and I admired him for that. I want to thank you, my brother, for all of the great memories and also for turning me on to Steely Dan. May the grace of our Lord Jesus be with you. Amen.

I'm just crushed by this terrible news. I was a sales representative with Tod at Anheuser-Busch in the 1980s. NOBODY in that sales room had the perpetual full-face smile and positive attitude that Tod had. When we saw each other, we always greeted one another with "Cool dude!!".....which may or may not have been fully embraced by management, but will be a tremendous memory I'll never forget. After 31 years, it's like it was yesterday. I can speak for another sales rep who left the company long ago who probably hasn't heard about this.....he would be equally devastated. Toddy Tod, you're the best!!!!!!

Tod - As College Teammates at Pierce, We had Such a Fun & Competitive Friendship Centered around Hardball.
We Challenged Each Other Tremendously as Outfielders.
Although I had the Good Fortune to Play Professionally in Both the US/Latin America You always had a Friend who knew Your Love for the Game. I'm So Saddened by Your Passing ....
You Will Always Be Remembered

We were lifelong friends and I have wonderful memories-Kindergarten thru college, numerous baseball leagues, summers at the beach, heated basketball games on the Shimamoto’s “home court”, winters skiing, and even working together for 25+ years at Anheuser-Busch. Unfortunately we never got in the camping trip with our brothers, John & Rod, as we planned. Tod was a true friend and growing up we were as close as brothers. I am very fortunate to have had him in my life. RIP Tod, I will greatly miss you.

I had many softball conversations with Coach Tod. Such a gentleman. Always took the time to talk to anyone and everyone about softball. He will be truly missed
