Alfred S. "Boomie" Richman of Brockton died on March 13, 2012 at the age of 91. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen (Livingston) Richman. Dear son of the late Hyman and Mollie Richman. Devoted father of Gerald Richman and his wife Catherine of Stow, MA, Roberta Richman and Beth Richman, both of Brockton, MA. Loving brother of Boris Richman and his wife Beverly of Swampscott, MA and the late Bella Morse. Cherished grandfather of Geoffrey and Gregory Richman. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Alfred was a United States Army veteran of WWII serving in the Philippines. When he returned home after the war, he worked with his father in the family business at Hyman's Tailoring and Dry Cleaning in Brockton. Alfred was a musician and led his own group, the Al Rich Orchestra, in addition to being involved in several other music groups including Olde Kids on the Block, a German band, and the Canton Legion band. For many years, Al worked at Stop & Shop stores in Brockton and Stoughton. He was a lifelong member of Congregation Agudas Achim in Brockton. He enjoyed playing scratch tickets, and watching soap operas, Celtics games, and Patriots games on television,
Funeral service at Temple Beth Emunah, 479 Torrey Street, Brockton, on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 10:30 AM. Interment at Plymouth Rock Cemetery, Brockton. Following interment, memorial observance will be at Temple Beth Emunah then to resume at his late residence on Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Charitable contributions in Alfred’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701-1800.
