He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Linda Jane (Leonard) Kushner, who sheltered him through all the months of his harrowing disease, and his four magnificent children, who were by his side since the day of his diagnosis in January 2026. They are: Samuel and his wife, Cara (Pineau), Meredith and her fiancé, Max Tamahori, Erik and his wife Madeline Loffredo, and Rita Kushner. He is also survived by his father and stepmother, Russell and Isabel Kushner, his sister and brother-in-law, Susan (Kushner) and David Resnick, his sister and brother-in-law Carol (Leonard) and Tom Ward, and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-niece. Andy was predeceased by his mother, Doris (Mamis) Kushner.
Andy was a devoted and loving husband for four decades. He was a great Dad – the dad that everyone wants. He was happiest when surrounded by his wife and four children, and their spouses and partners. He found joy and comfort in music and listened to it constantly. He was a fabulous cook. He was good at everything. Andy and Linda donated to many charities and played in numerous golf tournaments to support a variety of causes. He loved golf and was an excellent golfer. He had many, many friends from childhood on and invested a lot of time in cultivating and sustaining those friendships. He loved concerts, live sporting events, old movies and new adventures. Andy was a passionate fan of all Boston sports teams and held Patriots and Celtics season tickets for many years.
Andy was known for his wry and witty sense of humor, open-heartedness, lifelong athleticism, and astute political provocations. Andy loved travel, concerts, the Patriots, the beach and a G & T on the deck of The Ocean Mist. He built a successful real estate business and was the founder and owner of Spinnaker Group, Inc. for 35 years. He was known throughout the real estate community for his warmth, honesty and integrity.
Andy was a “mensch” and the “glue guy”. He was the “straw who stirs the drink”. He was a collector of people who loved a good party, a cookout on the beach and a good tailgate. During the child rearing years, he was a soccer, baseball and basketball coach for many of his children’s teams. He coached travel soccer for 14 years. He also gave back to the communities he was a part of. He served on the board of the Hockomock YMCA in Foxboro, MA for 11 years. He was a volunteer court mediator for the State of Rhode Island and served as the first entrepreneur in residence in the business school for his alma mater, Providence College, where he earned a BS in Business and Marketing in 1982. Andy then earned an MBA from Clarkson University in 1983.
Andy was a high-achieving, successful, humble and funny guy for his entire life. He “squeezed the juice out of every day,” always looking forward to the next adventure. He genuinely lit up all the rooms he entered. His strength, out-of-the box wisdom, warmth and twinkling eyes will be missed forever.
