Andrew James Sostek

He was born in Malden, Massachusetts on October 11, 1945 and grew up in Medford, graduating from Medford High School. He moved to New York City for college, graduating from New York University with a degree in psychology, followed by a Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He spent most of his career as a clinical review officer for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, assessing research studies on drug development for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.

He had an insatiable curiosity and spent his time reading books and magazines, attending lectures and visiting art galleries. Just hours after attending his final lecture – a talk on a graphic novel adaptation of The Odyssey – he died of a cardiac arrest.

He was predeceased by his parents, Evelyn (Cooper) and Walter Sostek, and survived by his daughters, Katrina Sostek of San Francisco, California, and Anya Webb (Jason) of Aspinwall, Pennnsylvania, and his brother, Todd Sostek (Liwang Chang) of Glendale, California, and four grandchildren, Elsie, June, Juliet and Hays Webb.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside funeral service on Thursday, July 23rd at 12:45 PM at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, Massachusetts. Please follow signs to Graveside Service which will lead you to the back of the administration building to line up for the burial.
