Barbara Lee Goldstein (Spiegel), of Newton, formerly of Taunton and Sharon, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the age of 92.
Affectionately known as “Bubba,” Barbara was the devoted wife of the late Al Goldstein. Together, they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. Family was a great source of joy for Barbara and Al, as were their cherished times on the Cape and in Bradenton, Florida.
Barbara was the beloved mother of Mitchell and his life partner, Petra; Todd and his late wife, Donna; and Jeff and his wife, Robin. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Shirley, and her former daughter-in-law, Debbie.
Barbara was a loving grandmother to nine grandchildren: Ari and his fiancée, Lindsey; Elana; Jared and his wife, Lauren; Sydney and her husband, Paul; Madison; Abbey and her partner, Sam; Josh and his wife, Berit; Jessie; and Sarah and her husband, Zvi. She was also a cherished great-grandmother to Gabe, Maya, Beno, Stellan, and Bodie.
Born in Lawrence, Barbara was predeceased by her beloved parents, Libby (Sapolsky) and Mark Spiegel, and her dear brother, Sherman.
There seemed to be little Barbara couldn’t do. Throughout her life, she held a variety of jobs, working in a doctor’s office, as a lab technician, as a nanny, and in a fabric store. She eventually found a special calling when she opened “Busy Hands Preschool” in Sharon, where she was an adored teacher for many years. Former parents of her students kept in touch with her all through her life.
Barbara and Al later embarked on another venture together, opening Barbara’s Hallmark store in Randolph. They loved connecting with their customers and helping them celebrate life’s happy occasions as well as navigate its challenges.
Barbara was also a talented artist who expressed her creativity in many ways, including painting, knitting, sewing, and floral arranging. She was known for her positive outlook and happy spirit, and she had a wonderful way of making friends wherever she went.
