On Sunday, October 29, 2017, Barbara Burtman Goodman of Centerville, Massachusetts passed away peacefully at age 95 in Stoughton, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was the wife of the late Irving Goodman and Edward Oray; mother of Mark and wife Marilyn, Lester and wife Barbara, and Philp Goodman; sister of Arthur Burtman and the late Audrey Szathmary and Earl Burtman; grandmother of Cole, Cameron, Isabelle, Alexandra, and Jennifer. Barbara served in the Navy during World War II. Over the course of several decades, Barbara served in various capacities for Aid for Cancer Research, and for many years played an integral role in leading the Organization’s annual fundraising luncheon. Throughout her life, Barbara resided in several different locations, but held a special place in her heart for Cape Cod’s idyllic beauty. She was an avid artist who painted beautiful landscapes and portraits in both watercolor and oil. Barbara enjoyed the fine arts, golf, and was a world traveler who ventured to far away lands such as Israel and Japan – always returning with more than a few tales to tell. Her insistence on regularly gathering for Jewish holidays created a lasting sense of family that will live on forever. Above all else, Barbara was an archetypal member of the Greatest Generation whose nearly 96-year life left all who met her with precious and indelible memories. Services will be at the Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington St, Canton on Wednesday, November 1 at 2 PM followed by interment at Sharon Memorial Park. Memorial observance will be at the home of Philip Goodman on Weds after 4 PM. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be donated to Elder Services of Cape Cod, 68 Rt. 134, So. Dennis, MA 02660.
