June 5, 1937 – February 1, 2019
Barbara (Kohn) Kramer of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, entered into rest on February 1, 2019 at the age of 81. Beloved wife for 40 years of Henry Newman. Devoted mother of Melinda Kramer and her husband Robert Ernst, Samuel Kramer and his wife Dawn Gaffney, and stepmother to Madelyn Newman Morris and her husband Henry, and the late Melissa Newman Robichaud and her husband Robert Robichaud. Cherished grandmother of Alexander and Evan Ernst, Martin and Adam Morris, Merrill, Rachel, and Sabrina Robichaud, and four great-grandchildren. Also survived by her brother Lewis Kay and his wife Joanne, and their children Dana Smith, Stephen Kay and Meredith Kay.
Barbara grew up in Glens Falls, NY. She attended Connecticut College and Wheelock College, before obtaining a Bachelors Degree from the University of Massachusetts at Boston. She ran the TCA Social Services Agency in Haverhill, MA and finished her career as a travel agent.
She loved to travel all over the world; especially on cruise ships. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed tennis, and playing bridge and canasta with her friends. She enjoyed the theatre and was Treasurer of the Women’s Auxiliary of Palm Beach Dramaworks. She volunteered as a reading buddy for the West Palm Beach Public Schools and had an interest in environmental protection. She had a love for learning and took classes at Florida International University, and was on the Hospitality Committee at Frenchman’s Creek in Palm Beach.
She was very friendly and popular to all who knew her, but was incredibly exceptional in the way that she cared for people. She could often be found going out of her way to care for those who needed the most.
Memorial Services will be held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, MA on Sunday, February 10th at 10:30 am, followed by a gathering at the Blue Hill Country Club in Canton until 4:00 pm.
