Our beloved mother, Charlotte P. (Shuman) Swartz, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026, at the age of 100.
Mom had two wishes: to live to be 100 and to spend her final days in the home she loved in Natick. She accomplished both with the same determination and grace that defined her life.
Charlotte was born on May 5, 1926, to Jeanette and Joseph Shuman. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Richard L. Swartz, who passed away in 1987, and by her three beloved sisters, Dorothy, Natalie, and Wilma, all of whom she loved and missed dearly.
After losing her husband, she became fiercely independent and built an extraordinary life in the town she cherished. She was known throughout Natick for her warmth, kindness, volunteer spirit, and unwavering commitment to her community. She was honored as Natick Senior Woman of the Year, served as a Natick Town Meeting Member, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, and generously gave her time to the Natick Community Center and the Natick Center for the Arts.
Charlotte leaves behind a family who adored her: her children, Roy Swartz and his wife, Diane; Jay Swartz and his wife, Judy; and Amy Lapetina and her husband, Tony. She was a proud grandmother to Graham Swartz, Jamie Swartz, Jeffrey Swartz, Kyle Swartz, Ross Lapetina, and Adam Lapetina.
She also leaves her four great-grandchildren, Josephine Swartz, Evelyn Swartz, Julian Lapetina, and Max Lapetina. Although they were too young to truly know their great-grandmother, they will grow up hearing countless stories about the remarkable woman she was and the legacy of love, strength, and kindness she leaves behind.
Mom was especially grateful for her wonderful neighbor/friends, Phyllis Dank and Patti and Arthur Bosselman, whose friendship, kindness, and willingness to help meant the world to her.
Our family is also deeply thankful to the caregivers at HomeWell Care Services and Good Shepherd Hospice for the compassionate care and comfort they provided during her final days.
Charlotte lived a full and meaningful century, touching countless lives with her generosity, resilience, and caring heart. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Life will never be quite the same without our beautiful mom. While our hearts are broken, we are comforted knowing she achieved exactly what she wished for and is now at peace.
Funeral services will be held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, MA on Wednesday, July 8th at 11:00 AM followed by interment at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon, MA. Shiva will be held at her late residence on Wednesday, July 8th from 3 to 9 PM.
Donations may be made in her name to the A Place to Turn Food Pantry, 99 Hartford Street, Natick, MA 01760.
