David J. Goldman, a retired electrical engineer, died at his home in Dedham, Massachusetts, on October 30, 2026 following a long illness. He was 92.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he was the youngest of three sons of Harry and May (Field) Goldman. He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering. He then went on to have a long and varied career, including working as the vice president of engineering at DI/AN Controls building early core memory for NASA and at Computer-Link Corp.
While still at MIT, he met Karen Slovin, a student at Tufts University, and the two were wed in 1957. The couple raised their two children—Neal and Diane—together in Framingham and later in Wellesley. David enjoyed spending his free time as a ham radio operator, making many lifelong friends in that community. He and Karen loved to travel together, and David adored planning and writing their itineraries, often with amusing side notes.
After Karen died of cancer in 2002, friends introduced David to Judith Marcus, a widow with three grown children of her own. The two married in 2007 and spent many of the following years traveling the world together, including many cruises to various destinations.
Family and friends were very important to David. He relished many activities with extended family—celebrating everything from Passover to signature birthdays with warm gatherings of children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Judi; their children Neal Goldman and partner Kathryn O’Neill of Wellesley, Diane Gottesman and husband Steven of Audubon, Pennsylvania, Edward Marcus and wife Cara of Watertown, Lisa Marcus of Maynard, and Stephen Marcus and wife Judith Linden of Natick; and his grandchildren: Emily Dean and husband Kurt, Alex Goldman, Alison Gottesman, Jason Gottesman, Gabrielle Marcus, Adam Marcus, Jared Marcus, and Melissa Jones. He also leaves behind many caring nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ralph Goldman and Paul Goldman.
A funeral service for David will be held on Monday, November 2nd at 10 AM, at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton. Interment will immediately follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon.
Shiva will be observed on Monday, November 2nd and Tuesday, November 3rd from 2-4 PM and from 7-9 PM, in the Beal Family Chapel at Newbridge on the Charles, 5000 Great Meadow Road, Dedham.
