He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sandra (Caras) and Sherwin Aronson of Bourne, MA; sister Caren Goldberg and her husband, Dan and their children Jake and Hannah Goldberg of Needham, MA; many cousins and extended family members; his longtime devoted partner, Linda Leisz, of Sarasota, FL; and many colleagues and community members.
Jeff was born in Boston on August 6, 1964. Jeff was an inquisitive child throughout his youth, stopping at every barrel on trash day to check for hidden treasures. Despite his love of cats, cat memes and videos, his first pets included a tarantula and mice. Jeff loved to cook—and eat—searching for new recipes for his grilling and telling anyone who was even modestly interested the details of his rub, sauce and process. Always true to his Boston roots, he stayed faithful to its sports teams and intentionally kept his thick Boston accent despite living in Florida for over twenty years.
Jeff was larger than life in every conceivable way: He was a giant teddy bear, always available for the best (and at times, bone-crushing) hugs. You always knew when he was around, as his big sense of humor and hearty laugh, which came from his deepest insides, rang out loud and clear. Every phone call with Jeff, no matter who called who, began with a booming “Jeff Aronson here”. He was a true extrovert, and while being a salesman was challenging, it was a natural fit for his personality and his desire to be able to travel to be nearer to family. His family always had a guest room ready to welcome him. Jeff was a thoughtful and generous son, brother, uncle and cousin, always thinking of what he could do for his family, making sure they were okay, and showing up in every way you’d ever want.
While Jeff didn’t have kids of his own, he had the deepest love for his niece and nephew, who adored him beyond measure. They could always count on him to always send a big bucket of flavored popcorn for the holidays, until he realized when they were older that Amazon gift cards were the way to go.
Jeff was a spiritually wealthy man, who never took for granted the unconditional love those closest to him gave him throughout all the times in his life. He never gave up on himself and retained a lifelong commitment to sobriety and connection with his inner child. He treasured his relationships and was always seeking to deepen them. Jeff would always truly see others’ struggles and tried to support them in their journey, with a passion as big as his personality. For many, he was the most inspirational and strongest person they knew. Jeff’s unexpected passing leaves a larger-than-life void, that hopefully will be filled with gratitude for having him in our lives.
