Jeffrey R. Weitzenkorn

Jeffrey R. Weitzenkorn, 78, of Stoughton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2026, with his family by his side.

Born in New York City, Jeff was the eldest son of the late Siegfried and Milly Weitzenkorn. He was predeceased by his much-beloved wife, Judy Weitzenkorn nee Levy.

Jeff graduated from New York University and earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Wright State University. A true patriot, he proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 25 years. He served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War, as well as various locations throughout the world and the USA, and achieved the esteemed rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Jeff was a member of the Jewish War Veterans serving as Post Commander of Sharon Post 735 and as State Commander of the Department of Massachusetts in 2018-2019.

After retiring from the Air Force, Jeff worked in various firms in their financial departments before finding his place at the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles. He thoroughly enjoyed the 14 years he spent working there, building up very strong and close personal – as well as professional – relationships he maintained through his retirement in 2008.

One of Jeff’s philanthropic hobbies was support of the VA Brockton Medical Center. He would collect bottles and cans from neighbors and friends, redeem them for their deposit and then send the proceeds to the Medical Center to support veterans for their personal needs.

A major part of Jeff’s life was his involvement at Temple Israel of Sharon. In his role as “shamus” at the synagogue, he voluntarily took on the responsibility of organizing, monitoring, and participating in the daily religious services as well as Shabbat services. His love of the synagogue was unparalleled. So important was the synagogue and those daily services to Jeff, that he established the Weitzenkorn Memorial Chapel in honor of his parents. The chapel, since its dedication, has been constantly in use, for daily prayer services, education, Torah and Talmud study, and marking various life events. He followed in his father Siegfried’s footsteps in this devotion to his religion and his synagogue. His family, his religion, veteran care and recognition, were all extremely important parts of his life.

He is survived by his son, Scot Weitzenkorn and his wife Caitlyn of Randolph, MA, his brother Neil Weitzenkorn and his wife Marcia of Wanamassa, NJ, his nieces, Rachel Weitzenkorn of New Jersey, Sara Turian and her husband Ross of Florida, grand niece Ariella Turian of Florida, grand nephew Zachary Turian of Florida, and many cherished, loved, and close cousins.

A funeral service for Jeffrey will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 10 AM at Temple Israel of Sharon, 125 Pond Street, Sharon, MA. Interment will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 1 PM at Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus, NJ.

Shiva will be observed in New Jersey as follows:

Thursday evening: Visiting begins at 6:00 PM with 7:00 PM service at the home of Neil Weitzenkorn.

Friday morning: 8:00 AM service at Congregation Torat El, 301 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, NJ.

Saturday Havdalah: Visiting begins at 6:00 PM with 7:45 PM service at the home of Neil Weitzenkorn.

Sunday morning: 8:30 AM service at Congregation Torat El, 301 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, NJ.
