Laura was born in Lynn, Massachusetts to Ethel (Sperber) Luoni and Louis W. Luoni. She graduated from Dorchester High School and continued her education at Boston Teacher’s College. She then earned her Master’s degree from Boston University. Friendships that she formed from her earliest schooldays endured throughout her life.
Laura was a teacher by profession, retiring from the Boston Public Schools after a long and admirable career as a Middle School Social Studies teacher.
Outside of her work in the classroom, Laura loved to read, talk about reading, travel, and promote literacy. She encouraged all she knew to be active and informed citizens. Throughout her life, Laura never stopped learning and teaching and was always very knowledgeable about the latest political and social causes. She loved to talk to others about what was going on in the nation and the world. Laura was always striving to make the world a safer place and to improve the lives of others; she had lately become a passionate defender of the environment as she observed the effects of climate change in her part of the state.
Laura will be remembered fondly by many friends and family-members.
Graveside service will take place on Monday, August 15, 2022 at 11 AM at Atereth Israel Cemetery, 776 Baker St., W. Roxbury, MA.
