Leon Israel of Northampton, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026, at 69 years of age. Son of the late Germaine (Stoliar) and Joseph Israel. Brother of Nadine Israel and Allen Israel. Brother-in-law of Fred Yaitanes & Marcia Israel. Uncle to Mike White, Danielle White, Jeff Israel & Katelyn Versiakas, Dave & Julie Israel, and Rob & Perri Israel. Great uncle to Benjamin Israel; Blake, Jordan & Chase Israel; and Angie Israel.
Leon was born in Cairo, Egypt on May 21, 1957 where he spent his first 3 years. The next stop was Paris, France, and then finally America, where he excelled in sports and school. His desire for advancement & excellence is evident by his earning the prized Eagle Scout designation at the young age of 15.
Leon’s hobbies included skiing, snowboarding, fishing, camping and travel. Always enterprising, Leon did whatever he could to earn money for his not so inexpensive hobbies. He worked at Mt. Tom Ski area as a lift operator allowing him free skiing/snowboarding. He also worked in retail, office administration, data entry, started a business fabricating candles, and was a lifeguard.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon.
Shiva will be held immediately following the Burial at the home of Nadine Israel and Fred Yaitanes.
