After finishing High School in Sharon, Massachusetts, Mark began his professional life working in the Life Insurance arena but eventually found a ‘home’ in the world of Call Centers. In this field he moved from Customer Service Agent, up to Call Center Director. His call center life took him from Massachusetts to Indiana, Arizona, Georgia, Oklahoma and finally Dallas, Texas. It was during his time in Georgia that Mark met Sandra Bridges. The two were inseparable from the beginning. That was in 1995.
After years together, Mark and Sandra were married in Plano, Texas in 2007. They had a wonderful life full of fun and travel, visiting his family and friends in New York and Sandra’s family in Georgia and Virginia. Mark was big on family, and friends and it showed in the way he was always looking out for them. Mark learned to love thoroughbred horse racing from his parents at an early age and introduced Sandra to the sport. Mark’s love of racing was reflected in their travels to such places as Oklahoma City, Grand Prairie, Texas and Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Mark had a great sense of humor and the ability to tell the longest stories ever. They did not have to be long, he made them long! He had a wonderful smile and a great laugh that touched everyone near him. Mark was also a lifelong fan of the Boston Celtics and transferred that passion to support the Dallas Mavericks.
During the last years of his life, Mark changed careers and became a loan officer, studying night and day for the multitude of state exams he needed to pass to secure his licensing credentials. He had an amazing mind for facts, numbers and dates which always astonished his family and friends.
Mark passed away peacefully on January 6, 2024, after losing his battle with lung cancer. Mark was preceded in death by his father Harold George “Buddy” Rofelsohn. Mark is survived by his mother, Ruth Rofelsohn, his wife Sandra; his brother William “Bill” Rofelsohn; brother Arthur “Art” Rofelsohn and sister-in-law Fran Rofelsohn. Mark had a remarkably close relationship with his nephew David and wife Jenna Rofelsohn. Mark adored being Great Uncle to Evan and Avery. And let us not forget his friends, especially Laura Jojola and Jon and Joanne Barrish. Those friendships go back many years.
Mark wants to be remembered in the following way:
“I am grateful for my family and friends, and I love them. I thank God for the life I had.”
