Mark was born in Brookline, Massachusetts on April 3rd, 1944. Mark grew up in Dorchester, attended Boston English High School and the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and went on to Suffolk Law. He served in the United States Army Reserve.
A true trailblazer in long-term care, Mark devoted his professional life to the wellbeing of older adults. Over more than four decades as a nursing home and assisted living administrator and developer across Massachusetts, he championed care environments where dignity, respect, and quality of life were expected rather than hoped for. In 1990 he founded The Pointe Group, which included seven nursing and assisted living communities. He served on the board of the Massachusetts Senior Care Association for thirty years, including a term as its chairman, and founded a Meals on Wheels program and a community garden project in Norwood.
A fiercely loyal lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox, Mark cheered for his beloved Sox through the highs, the lows, the curses, and the championships. His love for baseball was matched only by the joy he found in sharing the game with his family. He would want everyone to remember him by rooting for the Red Sox, enjoying a hot dog and a bag of peanuts, and never giving up hope for next season.
Mark also loved collecting classic and new cars. He drove a little faster than he should have, took pride in keeping them immaculate, and delighted in sharing them with friends, family, and fellow enthusiasts.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Tuesday, July 7th at 11:00 AM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street Canton. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon.
Shiva will follow services at the home of Kim and Rick Sciacca until 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark's memory may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association at www.apdaparkinson.org
