RUBIN, Morris "Moe" Alan, a lifelong resident of Brockton died February 12 after a long illness at age 81. Moe grew up with his parents Jennie and Israel Rubin and sisters Ida (Tatelbaum) and Diana "Dolly" (Federman). He started working at an early age after the death of his father and, upon graduating from Brockton High School, enlisted in Navy. Despite promising his mother that he would serve in Charlestown, he told the recruiter that he wanted to go to the South Pacific. That was the beginning of a lifetime of wanderlust that brought him to every corner of the world. He spent almost his entire career in sales, eventually joining with his partners and close friends to start his own business, The Sockyard. Moe had an incredible sense of humor, something that helped him make friends with almost everyone he met. But he was more than a friend, adopting the concerns of others as his own. He enjoyed two loving marriages, to Paula (Shechet), who predeceased him, and Phyllis (Barmash) and was devoted to his children Eric and his wife Akiyo of Newton and David and his wife Linda of N. Easton and his grandchildren, Max, Alex, Abbey and Daniel. A memorial service will be held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel 475 Washington St., Canton, on Feb. 14 at 11:00 AM. Memorial observance will be held following the service at the home of David and Linda Rubin and continuing Wed. and Thurs. from 1-5 PM and 7-9 PM at his late residence. Donations in Moe’s memory may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Assc., 912 Killian Hill Rd., S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047 or to the VA Hospital Brockton, 940 Belmont St., Brockton MA 02302 attn: 42C Hospice Unit.
