He was a devoted and loving husband of 57 years to Sharon Caswell Andelman. Beloved father of Jamie and Julie and her husband Jeff. Adored grandfather of Isabelle, Sophia, Aidan, Ivy and Lucy. He was kind, wise, humorous, caring and accomplished.
He had a meaningful 51-year career. A successful entrepreneur and business leader, he was founder and CEO of the New England Animal Medical Center, a teaching hospital and one of the largest, private veterinary practices in the region. He was a skilled orthopedic surgeon and loved to train and mentor his interns and residents. Acting as a key consultant, he helped to improve safety and track conditions for greyhounds in multiple states and internationally. He also was an in-demand speaker at veterinary conferences and events. Additionally, he worked on a research project to help develop cardiac surgery for small animals.
He was a dedicated humanitarian and philanthropist, serving as a long time board member of the Bridge Center, now part of Easterseals.
His greatest love was his family. He lived his life with quiet dignity and will be greatly missed by all.
