She was born on June 30, 1927 to Charles and Fannie (Lerner) Brooks of Boston, MA. She married the love of her life, the late Arnold Blacker, on May 21, 1947 in Boston, MA. Phyllis was a devoted mother to Clifford and his wife Bonnie Troped Blacker of Easton, MA; Robert Blacker of Quincy, MA; and the late Mark Blacker and Steven Blacker. She was a cherished grandmother to Alison Janata and her husband Ryan Janata, West Hollywood, CA; Jaime Blacker, Easton, MA; Julie Blacker, Fort Worth, TX; Janice Blacker, Fort Worth, TX; and Steven Blacker, Albuquerque, NM. She was a loving great-grandmother to Oliver Janata, West Hollywood, CA and Ava Blacker, Fort Worth, TX. She was a loving sister to 10 late siblings. Phyllis was the youngest of 11 children.
As she and Arnold started their own family, she took on the role of matriarch, a beloved leader in the family. After a career in women's apparel, she and Arnold became very active in the Simon C. Fireman Community in Randolph. She could be found playing mah-jongg, bingo, and cards, and she was proud to say she ran the library at the Fireman for some time. Above all, she truly loved spending time with her family.
