Richard J. Suskin, age 82 of Sharon, MA passed away after a long illness on October 17, 2025. Born and raised in Boston by Ruth and Harry Suskin, Richie leaves his wife Arlyn (Weiss) Bonfield; his son, Andrew Suskin and wife Kayla of Salem; and his sister Judi Suskin of Winchester. Richie and Arlyn raised their son in Sharon, MA. Richie was proud of his professional life as a news videographer in Boston. When people heard him say, “In my 51 years in the news business…” everyone knew a story was coming. He regaled family and friends with his many adventures including covering presidential conventions, Henry Kissinger’s peace initiative in the middle east, gang violence in Boston and Los Angeles, the explosion of the Space Shuttle Challenger and many other important stories of our times. As the go-to “spot news” guy, Richie was always the first on the scene and developed close contacts with police, politicians, and others in the Boston area. His work was often honored by his peers including a Boston Emmy and being named News Photographer of the Year several times over his career. Richie loved Boston Sports. He spent many happy times celebrating victories with his son and friends – and even, as a newsman covering the victory, rode the Duck Boats with the Red Sox after their 2004 World Series win. He often commented about how lucky he was to raise a son during many of Boston’s most memorable sports moments. Richie and Arlyn enjoyed traveling all over the world including adventures around the United States, Europe, Japan and Africa. Their house was always open for family and neighborhood celebrations. Hearing Richie’s stories has made others laugh and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A funeral will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapels, 475 Washington Street, Canton, MA.
