She was a long-time resident of Canton, Massachusetts, where she raised her family and built her life. Rita was the devoted wife of the late Leon Glick, with whom she shared 44 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 1996.
Rita was the beloved mother of Edward Glick of Boxborough, MA; Peter Glick and his wife Joanie (Creedon) of Foxboro, MA and Punta Gorda, Florida; and James Glick and his wife Karen (Peterson) of Canton, MA. She was the cherished grandmother of Scott Glick (Mindy), Bryan Glick (Brie), Michael Glick (Ally), Tyler Glick (Tamara), and Abigail Glick, and the proud great-grandmother of her two-year-old great-grandson Logan Glick.
She was the loving sister of the late Marion Silverstein, formerly of Stoughton, MA, and the late Sybil Sermos, formerly of Andover and a long-time resident of Somerville.
Rita was born in Revere, Massachusetts and at an early age the family moved to Mattapan where she grew up. She attended Boston Business School and went on to enjoy a long and accomplished career in office administration, working for several companies, most notably Stop & Shop, where she served for 15 years as Executive Assistant to the Corporate Treasurer. She later worked at Bainbridge Sail Cloth as office administrator and assistant to the President, retiring in 1995.
Rita met the love of her life, Leon, in 1950, and they married in 1952. Together they shared a joyful, devoted marriage and created countless treasured memories traveling to Aruba, Italy, France, and on many ocean cruises. Rita was known for her warm and creative spirit. She loved to cook, sew, needlepoint, and read—often finishing a book in just a day or two. Her knitted hats, scarves, mittens, and blankets remain cherished gifts throughout the family.
All are welcome to attend a 1:00 PM Funeral Service on Sunday, November 16, at Stanetsky Memorial Chapels, 475 Washington Street, Canton.
Rita will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon.
