

Lief, Ruth Sylvia (née Cohen) was born in 1919 in Dorcester, Massachusetts, the daughter of Sarah Rubin Cohen and Max H. Cohen, sister of Oscar Paul Cohen, Cora Kopple, Goldie Bernstein, and Claire Barenholtz. She was the loving wife of Irving Lief, and mother of Ellen Cooper, Dan and Cynthia Lief, Marci Lief and Clay Oliver; grandmother of Brian and Marni, Eric, and Aaron Cooper; Jacob and Lindsay, Matthew and Nicole Lief; Luke Abell and Emily Wright, and Sarah, and Jane Abell; and great-grandmother of Hailey and Lindsey Cooper; Dustin Reiber; and Freedom and Madiba Lief. A lifelong resident of Massachusetts (but for a short stint in Florida), Ruth was an excellent Scrabble and bridge player; great cook and baker; lover of golf; loyal friend and matriarch of her loving family. She will be remembered for her strength and resilience, her spirited nature, and her amazing Boston accent. Funeral Services will be held SUNDAY, February 5th at 10am at The Chapel at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, with interment to follow the service. Memorial observance will be held at Orchard Cove, in the Cove Card Room, following interment.
