Sheldon Gerald Tandler of Canton, Massachusetts passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at the age of 83. After a brief illness, Sheldon passed peacefully with his beloved wife, Barbara, and family by his side.
Sheldon was born in New York on November 10, 1937 and joined the Air Force at 17 years old. He met the love of his life, Barbara Levinson, at a family wedding, eventually convinced her to go out with him, and the rest is history. Sheldon was a graduate of Bentley College and served as Chief Financial Officer for Harvard University’s Real Estate division for over 25 years.
Sheldon enjoyed playing cards with friends at the Sharon Men’s Club, taking day trips to Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods, watching baseball and football on TV and taking vacations with family and friends, but most of all he really loved to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events – whether it was football, basketball, swimming, gymnastics or lacrosse, Papa Shel was always there to cheer on his favorite athlete!
Sheldon is survived by his wife, Barbara (Levinson) Tandler, children Michael Joseph Tandler and his wife Ronda (Kelly) Tandler, James Ross Tandler and his wife Eryn (Gittleman) Tandler, Keith Aaron Tandler and his wife Eleanor (Tan) Tandler, his grandchildren Jordan Tandler, Kathryn Tandler, Andrew Tandler, Jackson Tandler, Coleman Tandler, Wesley Tandler and Shane Tandler. He is also survived by his brother Frank Shostack and his wife Rene Shostack, his sister Eileen (Tandler) Panzer and her husband Harold Panzer, and his nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, MA at 9:45 AM on Thursday, October 21, 2021.
Expressions of sympathy in Sheldon’s memory may be donated to a charity of your choice.
