Stanley was born in Boston MA on April 20, 1940. Growing up in Dorchester, he enjoyed playing sports at the Hecht House and hanging out at Rodgers drugstore and playing pool at Mickey’s bowling alley with his friends. Stan and Sandie met at the annual carnival on Morton Street in Mattapan. He attended Boston University where he earned degrees in Education and spent 35 years working at the Boston Public Schools in varying positions.
He was also a well-known and well-respected Basketball Coach for Dorchester High School, earning MIAA Coach of the year in 1976, and then successfully coaching at Curry College.
Stan was an active athlete from his younger years, playing basketball and baseball and was affectionately known as the Hawk for his knack for chasing fly balls as a centerfielder. This love of sports continued as an adult, playing tennis and becoming a ski instructor, while also picking up golf later in life. His talent for coaching never ended, as he taught all of his grandchildren how to ski.
Most important to Stan was his family. He was so proud of his entire family and cherished all the special times shared during the many holidays, countless ball games, and opportunities to just spend quality time together.
Stan lived a full and fulfilling life achieving everything that was important to him. He was a great role model, a dedicated and fiercely loyal husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather.
He was blessed with a wonderful retirement, spending countless vacations and trips traveling the world with the love of his life Sandie.
"Live a good life and in the end it’s not the years in a life it’s the life in the years” was a quote that he displayed at his home.
