Sue lived a wonderful life surrounded by friends and family, which were all family to her. As a career social worker, she found meaningful work in helping others. She believed in living life to the fullest every day as she traveled the country and world on countless adventures with her best friend Joan. Sue and Joan met when they were nine years old at Sunday school at the Hecht House. They became the best friends immediately, and over almost 70 years they have become like sisters. Sharing all of life‘s challenges, college roommates, first jobs, first apartments, and first homes, celebrating their growing extended families, birthdays, holidays, and all the joys of life. Sue was extremely close with her first cousins: Gloria and the late Marvin Skolnick, Janie and Frank Skolnick, Joan and Harvey Kaplan, Elyse and Daniel Kaplan, and Elaine (Kaplan) Davidoff.
Sue had moxie! She believed passionately in setting big goals and following dreams and found strength in moving obstacles out of the way! She was a great example of being a strong woman and the value of reaching one's full potential.
Sue was a storyteller. She was a true champion of L’Dor V’Dor; passing things down from generation to generation. Over the last 50 years, she has shared stories with her second cousins, and now, in the last 15 years, she has been sharing stories with their children - the next generation - who all adoringly refer to her as Aunt Sue. She would share stories of the family, stories of her great travel adventures, stories of all the good she has seen in the world.
Graveside services will be held at Friday, June 11 at 11:00 AM at Knights of Liberty Cemetery at the Woburn Jewish Cemeteries, 19 Washington Street, Woburn, MA 01801.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Susan's memory may be donated to the Rabbi's Discretionary Fund at Ahavath Torah Congregation, 1179 Central Street, Stoughton, MA 02072 or online at www.atorah.org.
