Walter was born in Winthrop, Massachusetts, and grew up in Hull.
He graduated from The University of Massachusetts, Boston with a degree in Management.
Walter was a remodeling contractor and carpenter. He founded Walter Dore Carpentry and Remodeling, successfully serving customers in the greater Boston area for over 20 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rita Dore, and his brother Bill Dore.
Walter is survived by his wife Micki Dore, his love of 45 years; by his brother Ralph Mastrangelo, and by his children Justin (Emmarin) Dore, Benjamin Dore, Jennifer (Joel) Newman, Peter (Deborah) Goldfein, Ingrid Goldfein (Joel Pitkowsky), and his grandchildren Rion Dore, Victoria and Atticus Dore, Sara and Liora Newman, Aaron and Shoshana Goldfein, and Jonah and Lili Pitkowsky.
Walter was adored by his family and friends. He was extremely supportive of Micki and fiercely proud of his children and grandchildren, and considered himself blessed to have such a loving family. He will be remembered for his fiery spirit, and for his generous and affable nature. Walter could be counted upon to freely share firmly held views on any number of topics. An avid golfer, he enjoyed reading and derived great pleasure from the arts. He was an ardent Boston sports fan, especially of the Red Sox. He will be sorely missed.
The family would like to thank Dr. Maria Pro-Risquez, Walter’s extraordinary primary care physician, and Dr. Michael Jaklitsch, Dr. Douglas Rubinson, Dr. Laurie Gordon and the Metrowest Home Care and Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Walter throughout his illness. The family would also like to thank the amazing community of friends and neighbors at The Lanterns for their kind and thoughtful support.
