Becky Jane Durbin, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of God, passed away surrounded by love. Becky, 75, was born in Barberton, Ohio, to Alma Jane Swiger and David Enos Copen. From the beginning, her life was marked by kindness, strength, and a deep devotion to her Lord and family.
Becky graduated from Doylestown High School and later attended the University of Akron. It was there, in the Chuckery, that she met the love of her life, Dennis “Denny” Durbin. They first connected while playing cards — a simple moment that became love at first sight. That love grew into a beautiful life together, rooted in faith, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Becky and Denny were blessed with 54 wonderful years of marriage, creating a home filled with warmth, joy, and welcome.
Becky lived most of her life in North Canton, Ohio, where she poured her love into her family and community. She was the proud mother of one daughter, Heather Lash, and a treasured grammy to her only granddaughter, Grace Lash, who brought her immense joy and pride.
A woman of strong Christian faith, Becky loved God wholeheartedly and lived that faith daily. Becky attended First Christian Church for years then later The Chapel in Green. She found true joy in singing praises to Him, and her worship was one of the most genuine expressions of her heart. Her faith wasn’t only something she believed; it was something she practiced. Becky consistently showed love and kindness to everyone she met, and her home reflected that spirit. Over the years, she opened her doors and her heart to many family members, offering them a place to live, heal, and belong. She had a rare gift for making people feel cared for, seen, and safe.
Becky also held tightly to the traditions that meant the most to her. The card game that first brought her and Denny together became a treasured family ritual. She loved continuing that tradition with Denny, Heather, Brian, and Grace every Friday and Saturday evening — moments full of laughter, connection, and the kind of togetherness she valued most.
Becky’s love extended to all of God’s creatures, especially her beloved dog, Luna — her “big bear.” Luna was a faithful companion and a very special part of Becky’s everyday life and joy.
Becky is survived by her devoted husband, Dennis Durbin; her daughter, Heather Lash; fiancé Brian Biddulph; her granddaughter, Grace Lash; her cherished dog, Luna; and extended family and friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Jane Copen.
Calling hours will be held on November 28, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home, located at 5000 Everhard Road NW, Canton, Ohio, 44718. The funeral service will follow at the same location, beginning at 11:00 am.
Becky will be remembered for her generous heart, her quiet strength, her joyful worship, and the way she loved people so fully. Though we grieve her passing, we rejoice in the promise she held close — that she is now home with her Savior, singing praises in glory.
