Bonnie Jean Wirick, 79, passed away on October 30, 2026. Born January 21, 1947, Bonnie lived in Canton, Ohio, and will be remembered with deep respect and lasting gratitude for a life marked by compassion, faith, resilience, and generous thoughtfulness. Her steady presence and creative spirit shaped the lives of many, leaving a legacy of care, conviction, and strength.
Bonnie pursued her education with dedication, graduating from Kent State University and later earning her Masters at Mt. St. Joseph. Her commitment to learning and to others found its fullest expression in her vocation as an art teacher for 38 years at Faircrest Middle School in the Canton Local School District. Through her work, she offered not only instruction, but patience, encouragement, and the kind of attentive guidance that stays with students long after the classroom years have passed.
A devoted parish member of St. Joseph and St. Joan of Arc, Bonnie’s faith was a constant thread throughout her life. She also found community and connection through her crochet club, where her creativity and generous spirit were naturally at home. Whether tending to gardening, enjoying time outside, working puzzles, making art, or crocheting, spending time baking and cooking, she brought care and intention to the simple, meaningful rhythms of everyday life. As a caregiver, she gave of herself with steadiness and heart, offering comfort in ways both seen and unseen.
Bonnie was a dedicated mother, and her love for family remained central through every season. She is survived by her sons, Nathan (Elizabeth) Wirick, Justin (Channa) Wirick, and Adam (Carrie) Wirick; grandchildren, Cole, Parker, Benjamin, Noah, Cailyn, and Knox; and nieces, Christine and Monica. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Richards.
Known for strong convictions and an unwavering spirit, Bonnie also delighted in the loyalties that brought her joy—an ardent Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Guardians fan, she followed her teams with enthusiasm and pride.
Visitation will be held at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Road NW, Canton, OH 44718, on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A Funeral Service will follow at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home on November 4, 2026, at 12:00 pm. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park.
