Clara Ann Norris

Clara A. Compton Norris 1915 - 2016 age 100, who was born in Luverne, Ala. on Aug. 17, 1915, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016. Clara, a longtime resident of Canton, Ohio, was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Norris; her parents, William and Susie (Benbow) Compton; and her eight siblings, Ella Bush, S. John Compton, Lue-Cresie Curtis, William Compton, Fannie Dora Carvin, Daniel Compton, Susie Ecton, and Isaiah Compton.

Although Clara had no children of her own, she was a mother to many; a generous, caring woman much loved by those who knew her. She is survived by her step-granddaughter, Stacey Holmes; her great-granddaughter, Peyton Holmes; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; great, great nieces and nephews; great, great, great nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins and friends. She was a member of Grace Christian Fellowship. At Clara's request, a graveside service will be held at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens, 7920 Frank Avenue NW, North Canton, at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016.
