She attended parochial schools while growing up. She then attended the University of Detroit where she met her husband Brian Quinnan of St. Clair Shores, Michigan in their shared Spanish class.
She worked at the Ford Motor Company, later as a public school secretary, and then at Miami University Middletown for 30 years as the executive assistant to the Director of Admissions.
Connie had lived in Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, Columbia, SC, and Middletown, Ohio before retiring and moving to North Canton after her husband Brian of 48 years had passed away in November of 2005.
She was a talented and accomplished pianist, previously taught piano lessons, and she was bilingual.
Connie loved animals and her cute dog Sweetie, interior design, casinos, shopping, reading magazines, collecting dolls, angels, & Christmas ornaments, movies, pen paling, crossword puzzles, and she was a major foodie.
She was a long-time parishioner of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in North Canton.
Connie lived independently in her own home until she peacefully passed away on March 4, 2024 at Cleveland Clinic Mercy from COVID.
She will always be remembered for her spirited personality, love of animals, and her kind heart, and for how proud she was of her beloved children and grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Lynne Zahler and husband, Gary of North Canton, Ohio; a son, Dr. Timothy Quinnan and wife, Lela of Kennesaw, Georgia; a daughter, Karen Burlage and husband, Dave of Lone Tree, Colorado; granddaughters Ava Zahler and Kristana Quinnan, and grandsons, Brian Burlage (wife Olivia) of New York city and Ben Burlage (partner Sydney) of Los Angeles; and a younger sister, Barbara Ann Smith of Dearborn, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lillian Smith, of Dearborn, Michigan.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 am, Saturday, April 20, 2024 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in North Canton with Father Simon Mino officiating, and then at Forest Hills Cemetery, followed by a luncheon afterwards at Walther’s restaurant to celebrate Connie’s life.
