He leaves his loving wife of almost 59 years, Mary Stella (Dercole) Moore; 5 daughters, Mona Elliott (Dave), Mary Beth Stauffer (Phil), Amy Bodin (Jon), Jane Putnam (Tom), and Susan DiMickele (Doug); 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother Donald Moore (Etta); and many close friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cyril Scott and Thelma Moore and his great granddaughter, Aubrey Rose Fleishour.
Mr. Moore grew up in Western Pennsylvania on a farm, served in the Navy during the Korean War, and moved to Ohio in 1965 to work for Republic Steel. After retiring at age 62, he spent his time doing the things he loved, including traveling with his lovely wife, working in the yard, and playing golf. He was known to golf in Ohio in December, wearing gloves and his Steeler’s hat. He had an incredible passion for (large) family vacations, dancing, and eating his wife’s pie. Mr. Moore had a nickname for everyone, and his friends and family will miss his incredible wit, determination, and fighting spirit. His legacy is one that never gives up. The family would like to express its deep thanks to Hospice (Alan, Heidi, and Kathleen) as well as Skip and Joyce and other loving caregivers.
Mr. Moore was a member of the Chapel in North Canton where he was baptized at age 82. A service celebrating his life will be held on June 2 (the date of his 59th wedding anniversary). Calling hours will be 4-6pm, Monday, June 1, 2015 at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the Funeral Home.
