Cyril C. Moore

November 16, 1930May 28, 2015

Cyril (“Cy”) Moore, age 84, died peacefully in his home on May 28, 2015 after a valiant battle with cancer and arthritis. He leaves his loving wife of almost 59 years, Mary Stella (Dercole) Moore; 5 daughters, Mona Elliott (Dave), Mary Beth Stauffer (Phil), Amy Bodin (Jon), Jane Putnam (Tom), and Susan DiMickele (Doug); 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother Donald Moore (Etta); and many close friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cyril Scott and Thelma Moore and his great granddaughter, Aubrey Rose Fleishour. Mr. Moore grew up in Western Pennsylvania on a farm, served in the Navy during the Korean War, and moved to Ohio in 1965 to work for Republic Steel. After retiring at age 62, he spent his time doing the things he loved, including traveling with his lovely wife, working in the yard, and playing golf. He was known to golf in Ohio in December, wearing gloves and his Steeler’s hat. He had an incredible passion for (large) family vacations, dancing, and eating his wife’s pie. Mr. Moore had a nickname for everyone, and his friends and family will miss his incredible wit, determination, and fighting spirit. His legacy is one that never gives up. The family would like to express its deep thanks to Hospice (Alan, Heidi, and Kathleen) as well as Skip and Joyce and other loving caregivers. Mr. Moore was a member of the Chapel in North Canton where he was baptized at age 82. A service celebrating his life will be held on June 2 (the date of his 59th wedding anniversary). Calling hours will be 4-6pm, Monday, June 1, 2015 at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the Funeral Home.

Dear Moore Family;
We are so sorry to hear of your loss. I've said to Jane many times over the years what a charismatic, and kind man Cy was. He had that ability to make people feel special and had that wonderful sense of humor. I will always smile when I think of him referring to Jane as "Blondie".
Our deepest sympathy to all of you.

Dear Stella and Family,
I'v had the privledge of knowing Cy since the early 60s. Subiquently we worked closely together at Repulic's Union Drawn Division in Massillon. He was reliable and hardworking. As a team we were successful and I freely credit his contribution. We became close friends as well as Zora and Stella.

Stella and girls, you have my condolences for your dear father and husband. I just loved playing cards with Cy. and the best part was when the chickadees and the old goats got together. he was one of my biggest fans when I sing. I am so happy he is with my husband and his Savior!
