Dan was born in Canton on July 26, 1962 to Raymond and Marjorie (Spangler) Thewes. On February 2, 1983, he married Barbara Altimore, who survives. Dan worked for more than 30 years as a union carpenter until he retired at 50. During that time he worked for Canton Flooring, Specified, and Tony Logozzo Construction. Dan attended Christian Missionary Alliance church with his wife. Dan loved to spend his time in his workshop, outdoors and enjoyed boating, fishing, gardening, and hiking.
Along with his wife, Barbara, Dan is survived by his two sons, Nathaniel and Andrew (Lauren) Thewes, grandson, Cameron Thewes, mother, Marjorie Thewes, and five siblings: Doug (Diane) Thewes, Diane (Tim) Leopold, Pam (Doug) Maltese, Gary (Vicki) Thewes, and Patricia (Todd) Csernecky.
Dan is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Thewes.
Calling hours for Dan will be held at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home on Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 5 pm to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 10 am with Pastor Scott Praxl officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
