As you read this, please know that David is with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and he is fully at peace, having completed his earthly life for “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” II Corinthians 5:8.
He was born in Emlenton, Pennsylvania on August 22, 1942. He was married to Sharon K. Fraley on August 17, 1992, and they celebrated 34 years of marriage. He worked for Daimler Chrysler at the Twinsburg Stamping Plant for 31 years, retiring in 1999. David was a member of Ambassador Baptist Church in Wadsworth. He had a passion for singing and telling stories to his grandchildren. His hobbies were building things and helping people. Prior to moving to Ohio, he built a house on top of a mountain in West Virginia, where he and his wife Sharon lived for 22 years, and where they hosted several of their church’s senior group’s (Young at Heart) fun gatherings.
David is preceded in death by his father, Warren Leroy Caplinger, mother, Helen Irene (Shilling) Caplinger, and brother, Allen Caplinger.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Kay Judy Fraley, children: Carol (John) Sayre, son, Brian (Lynett) Caplinger, stepsons: Robert (Tammy) and Nathaniel (Amy) Fraley; 13 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Calling hours for David will be held at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 am with Pastor Coty Pratt officiating. He will be privately laid to rest at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
