David Lee Dougherty

Dave was born in Canton on October 24, 1947, to the late Vernon Dougherty and Betty Baird. After graduating from Lehman High School, he attended Akron University and obtained his bachelor’s degree in computer science. On June 25, 1987, he married Sheri Tournoux and together they have enjoyed 38 years of marriage. Dave loved the King James Bible and went to the Pensacola Bible Institute where he was ordained. He worked for Powell Electric for many years until he retired at the end of 2019 as a Designer. He also worked as the volunteer treasurer of Child Evangelism Fellowship for many years. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be sorely missed by his loved ones.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sheri, six sons: John P. Dougherty, Daniel N. (Heather) Dougherty, Jeremiah D. Dougherty, Donald T., Wiegreff II., Perry J. Wiegreff, and Shaun T. (Alisha) Wiegreff; 19 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Sharon (Thomas) Miller and Mary Heron.

Calling hours for Dave will be held at Bible Believers Baptist Church in North Canton on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A memorial service will begin at the church at 12:00 pm on Saturday with Pastor Andrew Decker officiating. A luncheon will take place at the church following Dave’s memorial service.
