She was born at the family home on July 28, 1929 in East Canton, Ohio to Albertus and Audrie (Summers) John. Donna grew up with her four siblings: Colleen, Rodgel, Roslyn and Joel. After graduating from high school, she began working at the local movie theater in the box office. This is where she met her soulmate, Robert “Bob” Adkins. He had recently returned from serving in the U.S. Army during WWII. They were joined in holy matrimony on June 6, 1953 in Canton, Ohio. To this union were born two sons: Douglas and Kelly. Donna was a nurturing and loving mother to their two boys. She loved to bowl and was on mixed leagues as well as women’s leagues. Playing Euchre cards and being outdoors were some of her hobbies. Donna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She will be greatly missed and long remembered by all those who knew and loved her.
Surviving are her two sons and their wives: Douglas (Dixie) Adkins of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Kelly (Mary Ellen) Adkins of Troy, Missouri; her sister: Roslyn Carlson of St. George, Utah and her three adoring grandchildren: Hannah Rose, Audrie Rose, and Adam Robert.
