Edna “Jean” Hoffman, 92, of Jackson Township, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 21, 2015. She was born on June 15, 1923, in New Philadelphia, Ohio to the late Harry E. and Clara E. Renner. Jean is preceded in death by her loving husband, Olin, of 72 years. They were married in New Philadelphia, Ohio on July 29, 1942. Jean was a homemaker and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, gardening and flowers, sewing, baking, and everyone loved going to Grandma’s house for their favorite foods.
Christmas was Jean’s favorite time of year. She always started baking cookies in October, making over 100 dozen of her favorites to share with family and friends. Every grandchild and great grandchild received a hand sewn cross stitch stocking for their first Christmas. They were filled with love and hung at Grandma and Grandpa’s fireplace.
Jean is lovingly remembered by her children, David (Mallory) Hoffman and Tim (Krystyne) Hoffman of Jackson Township, and Susan Sheffer of Columbus, Ohio; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
A private service will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Road NW, Canton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Aultman Compassionate Care Center, 2821 Woodlawn Ave NW, Canton, Ohio
Our family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the Compassionate Care Center for their kindness, support, and loving care for our mother and grandmother during these last precious days of her life journey. You have been called to serve, and you do so with love, compassion, and respect. Thank you for encouraging our hearts and bringing many a smile to our mother’s face. “A mother is she who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take.” (Cardinal Mermillod) You are forever in our hearts, Mom. We love you.
