

Eleanor Rose (Hazzard) Martin McKenzie, 86, of Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025. She was born on June 13, 1938, in Canton to her late parents, Helen Irene Hazzard (Bible) and Carl Edwin Hazzard. She left behind a legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories. In her final moments, she was surrounded by family, a testament to her devotion to her loved ones throughout her life.
Over the years, Eleanor became known for her passion for garage sales and antique shopping. She had a remarkable eye for finding unique treasures to beautify her home and yard, creating spaces that reflected her personal style and creativity. She had a passion for garage sales, always seeking out treasures to share with those she cared for. She also had a green thumb, spending countless hours tending to her plants and creating beautiful gardens that were a testament to her nurturing spirit. Rose's love for nature extended to the many houseplants that filled her home, and she delighted in watching and feeding the birds that visited her large backyard.
Eleanor was a dedicated member of Greentown Church of the Nazarene, where she faithfully attended for over 30 years. Her service to the church was unwavering, and she was proud to have served on the church board for many years, helping to support and grow the community she held dear.
Rose was preceded in death by her dear loved ones: parents, Carl, Sr. and Helen Hazzard; first husband, Don Lou Martin; second husband, Robert Bruce McKenzie; daughter, Tammie Eckerd; brother, Carl Hazzard, Jr. She is survived by her brother, Dick Hazzard (Brenda); her children, Donna Stephens (Pat), Ed Martin, Michelle Klinzing (Duane), and Mary Glaser, who were a constant source of joy in her life. Rose was the proud grandmother of many, including David Patterson (Lea), Sarah Snyder, Anna Carling, Cena Carling, Kathy Chico, Cara Martin, Edwin Martin, Crystal Martin, Donald Martin, Jacob Martin, Ken Martin, Erika Weimer (Dominic), Amanda Wright (Mike), Alyssa Paul, Ashly May, and Ricky Glaser, and many great grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.
Throughout her life, Rose was always surrounded by the warmth of her family, and her kindness and nurturing nature touched the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to call her family and friend.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Forest Hill Cemetery Mausoleum.
Rose’s love will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who loved her.
