

She was raised on her grandparents’ farm in Fredonia, PA, until the age of 13. This began her lifelong love of animals. Throughout her life she fostered a multitude of dogs and cats. For years, she was the accountant for SNAP (previously, The Animal Protection Guild).
She lived in Cambridge with her mother and stepfather, later moving to Canton. She married the two loves of her life, Sherman Oliver Nichols, and in her seventies, Jerry Bridger, who brought much joy to her life before he died.
Liz and her son, Douglas “Nick” Nichols, were very close. When he started Nick’s Sales and Service and Nick’s Railway Supply, they were partners and worked together for 34 years. She also did accounting for 25 different companies, including American Mine Door and Reliable Transport Trucking Co.
This “farm girl” gardened and took care of her 2-acre property through her late seventies. A member of Shirts and Skirts, Track II Singles and Merry Lou Rounds, she enjoyed square and round dancing.
A member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, she was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Sherman Nichols, her second husband, Jerry Bridger, her first husband, Sherman Oliver Nichols, and her mother, Violet Wagner. She is survived by her loving daughter-in-law, Gale Nagel Nichols, and cousins, Linda Steingrabe, Donna Tincu, Myrna Thompson, Bob Harpst, Garnet Kay, and their families.
Friends may call Saturday from 10:00-11:30pm at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 4120 Cleveland Ave. NW, Canton. A funeral service will follow Saturday at 11:30am at the church.
