My heartfelt condolences to the family and God bless Ellis. 

When my mom was a teenager,  she per chance met Ellis.  She was quite depressed because of family circumstances and prospects for her future, when he offered her some advise that gave her hope.  Not more than 3 years older than her, he consoled her like a sage letting her know that she could accomplish anything, she would be okay and to never let anyone tell her any different.  She recalled this memory to me just today, a few weeks before she turns 93 years old.  I think the advice that Ellis gave her so many years ago is why she has always been and continues to be a hopeful person.
