Esther E. (Pfahler) Snyder, 91, of Massillon, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2018 in Canton, Ohio. Esther was born on February 9, 1927 to Lawrence and Ethel (Hoover) Summers. She was a 1945 graduate of Washington High School in Massillon. She was married on December 6, 1947 to Donald Pfahler and brought three wonderful children to their lives. They remained married until his death on September 8, 2005. Esther worked for Jackson Local Schools driving bus for 23 years until her retirement. On August 12, 2007, Esther married Herbert Snyder, who remained by her side until her passing.
Esther was a member of Tanets’ Card Club for over 65 years and St. Jacob’s Church in Mudbrook.
Esther leaves to cherish her memory; her children Linda (Terry) Arbogast, Sharon Troyer, and Greg (Hilda Cook) Pfahler; grandchildren Brandon Pfahler, Chelsea (David Humphrey) Pfahler; and great-granddaughter, Emilia Humphrey. She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Donald Pfahler; and by her sons-in-law, John Troyer and Vince Gianetta.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 27 from 9 am to 11 am with funeral services to follow at St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church, 8697 Mudbrook St. NW, Massillon, Ohio. 44646. Graveside services will be at Sunset Hill Burial Park.
