

Ethel "Pauline" King, age 99, passed away peacefully surrounded by family leaving a legacy of love, faith and service. Born in Summit Station, Ohio on February 7, 1926, Pauline went on to graduate from Batesville High School and secured a job as a switchboard operator at the Ohio Consolidated Telephone Company in Cambridge, Ohio. She met the love of her life, Charles King, when he returned home from the war. Pauline and Charles soon married and moved to North Canton where they built a life together firmly rooted in family and community.
Pauline was a founding member of the North Canton Church of Christ on East Maple, where she worshiped and served faithfully while practicing the church's core value to be actively involved in showing compassion to a hurting world and caring for each other's physical and spiritual needs. Pauline enjoyed hosting family gatherings, organizing family reunions, and traveling with Charles from Maine to Arizona, Canada to Mexico, and places in between. Pauline worked alongside Charles as his bookkeeper and partner in his home building business. After raising her two sons, Pauline worked at Sears for 15 years where she was known for her dedication and warmth.
Pauline is preceded in death by her parents, Emmitt Starr and Cora Lowery; her biological mother, Ethel Starr; her siblings, Erma, Hazel, Neva, and Robert; and her beloved husband, Charles King. She is survived by sons, David (Claudia) King, and Michael (Mary Ellen) King; grandchildren, Stefanie (Kevin) Bunfill, Mackenzie King, and Linzee (Tim) Steinmetz; and step grandchildren, Emily and Allison; 7 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren; special niece, Charlene Babyak; many other nieces and nephews; her devoted best friend, Lucy Ruble; and dear neighbors, Lisa and Ken.
Pauline will be remembered for her love of family, unwavering kindness, quiet strength, deep faith and life of service. Her legacy lives on in the lives of her family and community she served with love and humility. She was a guiding light, a source of comfort, and a true example of compassion and grace. The family expresses thanks to the considerate care she received from Windsor Medical Center and Advantage Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the North Canton Church of Christ.
A visitation for Pauline will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Road NW, Canton, OH 44718 where her funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM. Pauline's burial service will be held Monday, August 4, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Harmony Cemetery, 7024 Clay Pike Rd, Cambridge, OH 43725.
