Florence was preceded in death by her husbands, Eugene Slingluff and Richard Clapper; her stepson, Rick Clapper; and seven siblings: John Mottice, David Mottice, Carol Leforte, Calvin Mottice, Margaret Reed, Dorothy Teeter, and Eleanor Mason.
She is survived by her loving sons, Jody Slingluff ( Mary) and Mark Slingluff; stepdaughters, Debbie Davidson (Jerry) and Cherie Mountain (Mike) as well as her nine cherished grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
Florence was a beloved mother, devoted wife, caregiver, and loyal friend whose life centered around caring for others. She spent much of her working life as a hardworking waitress, where her warm personality, positive attitude, and friendly smile touched countless people over the years.
At an early age, Florence learned from her grandmother, an immigrant from Switzerland, the art of making chocolates and wonderful homemade cookies. Her home was always welcoming, and there always seemed to be a fresh cookie available for anyone who stopped by.
She found joy in life’s simple blessings — beautiful sunsets, flowers blooming in the yard, quiet moments on her porch swing, and time spent with family. Florence was also an avid reader and talented seamstress who lovingly made quilts for her grandchildren, gifts that will forever hold treasured memories.
Above all, Florence was a woman of strong faith in God. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for her family will never be forgotten.
She will be deeply missed, and her memory will be cherished always by those who knew and loved her.
