He was born November 20, 1948 in Canton to the late, Paul James and Bertha Mae (Alltop) Ruby. Gary was a graduate of North Canton Hoover High School. He began his career working for the North Canton Sun News, and later worked for the Timken Company. Gary was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Carol Ruby; two children; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and sisters, Linda (Steve) Jurina of Columbia, TN, and Paula (Dennis) Clay of Canton, OH.
A private graveside ceremony is planned with interment to follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Aultman Compassionate Care Center, 2821 Woodlawn Ave. NW, Canton, OH 44708. The family would like to thank the people at Aultman Compassionate Care Center, and the Perry Fire Department for their care and support.
