
Iris M. Moor, age 86, formerly of North Canton, died Friday, August 12, 2011 at Rose Lane Health Center in Massillon. She was born in Canton on December 6, 1924, the daughter of the late John Henry and Zula (Graybill) Freeze.
Iris started the Greentown Brownie troop in the late 1950s and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, North Canton. She was a graduate of Massillon Washington High School, Class of 1943 where she was a member of the Tiger Swing Band. She graduated from the Timken Mercy School of Practical Nursing and worked as an LPN for Mercy Hospital, Timken Mercy Hospital and Doctors Hospital for 20 years. She also served as a volunteer for 20 years between the Bloodmobile and the Massillon Community Hospital.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred J. Moor, Sr. in 2006; two sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her daughters, Ginger Martin of DeRuyder, NY, and Dixie E. Moor of Akron; sons and daughter-in-law, Leslie L. (Barbara) Moor of Canton and Alfred J. Moor, Jr. of Greentown; nine grandchildren, Traci, Kerry, Cris, Stacy, Nicolae, Johnathan, Heather, Ken and Andy; four great-grandchildren, Courtney, Jeremy, Zachary and Joshua; and numerous cousins.
A memorial service is scheduled 11am for Friday, August 19, at Grace United Methodist Church, 1720 Schneider Ave. NW, North Canton, with Rev. Don Richards officiating. The family will greet guests following the service at the church. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church.
