I taught English at Massillon Washington High School from 1972 - 1996. It was my pleasure to serve with Jim Puperi during most of his years as a counselor there. We also worked together on the WHS Distinguished Citizens Committee and the Massillon Educational Loan Foundation. I loved his gentle spirit and keen sense of humor (necessities when working in education). He could lead or follow depending on the requirements of the situation. Though soft-spoken, I never doubted the conviction of his words. I am sure that he was a wonderful counselor for his students. My life and the lives of his co-workers and students are richer for the presence of Jim Puperi.

Our deepest sympathy to the family. Jim was a wonderful friend and an outstanding, caring educator. It was a privilege to know him and to work with him for twenty-four years at Washington High School. Jim will be sadly missed.
