Jim was born in Canton on June 10, 1928, to the late Lawrence and Mary (Dumar) Scheetz. Jim graduated from Jackson Memorial High School in 1946 and then enlisted into the Marine Corps and served his country honorably until he was discharged in 1949. Jim worked as a postal worker for the North Canton USPS for 30 years until he retired in 1987. After his retirement, Jim worked as a warehouse manager for Scheetz Building Corporation for 20 years. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church as well as Lake Cable Recreation Association. Jim enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his children, Jon and Melanie Scheetz, Ted and Joni Scheetz, Jim and Amy Scheetz, and Diane and Dan Taray; grandchildren, Tiffany Stone, Julie Prato, Lindsay Meier, Matthew Scheetz, Ashley Basso, Abigail Scheetz, Ethan Scheetz, Daniel Taray, and Katie Taray; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Scheetz, sisters, Violet Willaman, Marie Morrison, Ange Rinker, and brother, Joseph Scheetz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 11:00am at St. Michael Catholic Church with Father Connor Hetzel officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 am to 11 am at St. Michael prior to the Mass.
