Janice May Talmadge

She was born in North Canton on May 30, 1923 to the late Morris and Verna (Strausser) Hanel. Janice was a graduate of NoCaHi and the Canton Actual Business College and worked for the Hoover Company Credit Union. She was a member of Church of the Lakes United Methodist where she was active in the church including the Women’s Society. She was also a member of the Lake Cable Women’s Club and Garden Club. Janice will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed time with her family.

In addition to her parents, in 2002 she was preceded in death by her husband, George Talmadge, to whom she was married for 55 years. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Susan (Richard) Hirschman, Charles (Linda) Talmadge, and Jan (Kevin) Kohl; grandchildren, Stephanie (Lee), Josh (Julie), Ben, Charlie, Hank, Jacob and Cecily; great granddaughters, Harper and Hadley; her loving sister, Dorris Jane Hawkins; and many affectionate nieces and nephews.

The family expresses their heartfelt appreciation to the wonderful, caring staff of Bethany Nursing Home for the compassionate and loving care they provided to Janice and her family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Saturday in the Church of the Lakes, 5944 Fulton Dr. NW, Canton, with Pastor Bryan George officiating. Interment in North Canton Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, 5-7pm in the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home, or Saturday, 10-10:30am at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Lakes Memorial Fund.
