Jimmie Dotson was born on March 17, 1946 in Panther Burn, Miss.
He was a very hard worker and a very devoted man that loved God. He moved with his family to Canton, Ohio in 1975. Jimmie worked for the City of Canton as a driver for the sanitation department for 33 1/2 years until his retirement. Family was very important to him. He loved sitting and talking with his siblings and especially with his special friend, Valiant Graham, in the summer time while they sat outside enjoying the weather. He loved listening to gospel music especially the Canton Spirituals and Rance Allen. He also loved Canton's own The Singing Wonders.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Tommie and Lou Winnie Dotson, three siblings, Albert Dotson, Essie B. King, and Lemmel Dotson, and two nephews, James King and Olando Dotson.
Jimmie leaves to cherish and treasure his memories his wife of 53 years, Beatrice, and their four children, Marilyn Dotson, Anthony (Amy) Dotson, Lenora Dotson, and Teresa Dotson. He left behind five grandchildren that he truly enjoyed, Eric Poore, Jr., Dominique Poore, Andrew Dotson, Aaron Dotson, and Brajai Brown. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his siblings, Betty (Emery) Adam, Willie (Wanda) Dotson, Clarence (Jackie) Dotson, Walter (Rosa) Dotson, Clara Moore, and Earline Dotson, half-sisters, Tommiesine Jenkins, Mary Dotson, and Wynona Anderson, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and other family members.
Calling hours for Jimmie will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Living Word Christian Fellowship Church with Pastor Howard Robinson, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
