John was born on July 20, 1942, in Massillon to the late Hasin and Viola (Ferris) Ahmed. He graduated from Washington High School of Massillon and then went on to attend Ohio Valley College. John worked for Eaton Corporation from 1963 until 1985. On August 3, 1963, he married Faye (Blackwood) Ahmed and together have celebrated 63 years of marriage. In 1986, John became a full-time minister. He started his ministry career working at the Church of Christ in East Sparta until he and his wife moved to Canton, and there he worked for Southwest Church of Christ until his passing. He was a devout student of the bible and also led many bible studies to share his love of the Lord. When he was younger, John enjoyed playing golf and tennis. As he got older, he remained a sports fan but preferred to watch sports instead of play. He will be remembered for being a very benevolent man who enjoyed helping others.
John is survived by his loving wife, Faye, his children: Laura Franks and John E. (Jeannie) Ahmed; two grandchildren: Ashley and Sean; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers: Albert and David Ahmed; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Hasin and Viola, John is preceded in death by his brother, William Ahmed.
John’s family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to the teams at Amherst Meadows and Crossroads Hospice for their incredible compassion and care during John’s last days.
John will be privately laid to rest at Sunset Hills Burial Park and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in John’s name to the donor’s charity of choice.
