John Leonard Barr

John L. Barr went home to Heaven on December 4, 2015 at the age of 74. He was born to Rev. Raymond and Ethel Barr (deceased) and was raised with his brothers, Raymond C. Barr, (deceased), James Barr (Kathy), and Anita Weiss (Casey). He served his country in the navy prior to marrying his first wife, Sandra Barr (deceased), and raising their 3 children, Kelly Barr, Lisa Turoso (David), and Joseph Barr. He was a wonderful father to his children and grandfather to his granddaughter, Olivia Barr. He raised his children to love the Lord. He always had time for his children and was kind and generous to everyone.

He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and retired from Eco Lab in 1999. He was very active in the church teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir and serving on the church board. He like to fish and keep his mind sharp with puzzles and games.

He found love again in 2012 and married Susan Barr. He loved spending time with Susan in Florida including dinners and dancing at beachfront restaurants. Along with his children, he loved his step-children, Nikki Fink Kellogg (Richard), Richard Fink IV (Alysia), and 3 step grandchildren who enjoyed calling him papa John.

Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 pm Friday, December 11, and 9 am, Saturday, December 12. A celebration of his life will be held, at 10 am, December 12, All services will be held at the Canton First Church of the Nazarene.
